Laboratory for electrophysiological studies and interventional arrhythmia treatment

Laboratory for electrophysiological studies and interventional arrhythmia treatment was founded by academician, professor L.A. Bockeria in 1998.
Originally the laboratory was headed by V.A. Bazaev. First invasive electrophysiological study was performed in 17th February 1998. In February 2012 A.Kh. Melikulov headed the laboratory. From 2006 to 2016 more than 13 thousands diagnostic and curative procedures were performed in the laboratory and the number of procedures steadily increase.

Staff of the laboratory includes highly qualified doctors and nurses. We perform all the range of electrophysiological procedures: electrophysiological studies and radiofrequency ablations of supraventricular and ventricular tachycardias, including complex postoperative scar-related arrhythmias, implantation of single- and dual chambers cardiac pacemakers and cardioverter-defibrillators, CRT and CRT-D systems in patients with congestive heart failure. We also carry out invasive electrophysiological studies before open-heart surgeries if necessary. Atrial fibrillation is ablated using modern 3D navigation systems to minimize fluoroscopy time and to protect not only staff but also a patient.

Area of interest includes radiofrequency ablations and implantation of pacemakers and ICDs in pregnant women, ablation of atypical postoperative and postablational atrial arrhythmias, implantation of different types of cardiac devices in comorbid patients.
