LABORATORY OF HAEMATOLOGY

High-quality laboratory support is necessary for modern clinical practice. The methods used in the laboratory currently make it possible to reduce examination time and provide medical care on time.

Main types of conducted examinations:

• general blood test with leukocyte and reticulocyte counts, morphological assessment of cellular composition;

• examination of cerebrospinal and effusion fluids;

• examination of the urine physicochemical properties with microscopy of urinary sediment;

• determination of blood group according to the AB0 system, phenotyping of erythrocytes according to antigens of the Rh system (C, E, c, e, Cw) and Kell (K), antibodies to erythrocyte antigens;

• determination of platelets functional properties;

• assessment of the plasma component of the blood coagulation system.

The Laboratory of haematology regularly takes part in the international quality control of clinical laboratory examinations “EQAS”.
