• surgical interventions for aortic aneurysms under cardiopulmonary bypass (the department performs up to 60 such operations annually);

• minimally invasive and hybrid surgery of the thoracoabdominal aorta (endoprosthetics of the thoracic and abdominal aorta, hybrid interventions for aortic dissection);

• surgical treatment of congenital anomalies of the aortic arch and brachiocephalic arteries (vascular rings, vascular loops), thoracic and abdominal aorta (coarctation of the aorta, middle aortic syndrome);

• open and endovascular interventions in patients with atherosclerotic lesions of the aortic arch branches;

• open and hybrid surgical interventions for atherosclerotic lesions of the lower extremities arteries, including those which lead to the development of critical ischemia;

• issues of vital organs protection during surgical interventions;

• new approaches to the treatment of multifocal atherosclerosis with the widespread introduction of hybrid surgery and the use of traditional and endovascular methods of treatment.

The Department of arterial pathology has the biggest experience in Russia in the treatment of (re)coarctation in combination with aortic arch hypoplasia. The technique of extraanatomical aorto-aortic bypass from the ascending aorta to the descending aorta is a priority treatment method, with good immediate and long-term results.

In addition to open surgical interventions, the Department treats patients using endovascular technologies. In particular, there is a considerable experience in the treatment of patients with aortic dissection using stent grafts. Hybrid interventions and combined operations are also performed.

Particular attention is also paid to the lower extremities chronic ischemia. The Department has introduced a comprehensive approach to the treatment of chronic ischemia of the lower extremities using conservative, surgical, endovascular and hybrid technologies, and also developed a method for the treatment of the lower extremities ischemia using cellular technologies.

The Department can perform the entire range of open surgical interventions, as well as endovascular and hybrid interventions. The Department performed 983 operations In 2022.
