DEPARTMENT OF SURGICAL TREATMENT OF CORONARY AND GREAT ARTERIES COMBINED DISEASES
Main directions of clinical work
Department of surgical treatment of coronary and great arteries combined diseases provides the surgical treatment to patients:
- with ischemic heart disease, with severe damage to the coronary arteries and indications for myocardial revascularization;
- who underwent coronary artery bypass surgery, complicated by the return of angina pectoris and who have indications for repeated myocardial revascularization;
- with diffuse lesions of the coronary arteries (if there are indications for combined coronary bypass surgery and transmyocardial laser revascularization);
- of high risk, including elderly and aged patients, with low myocardial contractility, polymorbid, with diabetes mellitus, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, arterial hypertension, multifocal atherosclerosis, etc.;
- having a combined lesion of the coronary arteries and heart valves, left ventricle aneurysm, atherosclerosis of the carotid arteries and arteries of the lower extremities;
- having indications for endovascular treatment of coronary and peripheral (carotid, lower extremities, etc.) arteries.
Types of operations developed and implemented in the department
- coronary artery bypass grafting off-pump and on-pump a beating heart and with cardiopulmonary bypass;
- repeated coronary artery bypass grafting;
- multiple coronary artery bypass grafting through alternative mini-accesses (without median sternotomy);
- coronary artery bypass grafting with simultaneous use of laser myocardial revascularization (for patients with poor distal coronary artery flow);
- coronary artery bypass grafting in patients with low contractility of the left ventricular myocardium, including combination with resection of left ventricular aneurysm;
- combined operations of coronary artery bypass grafting with reconstructive operations on heart valves;
- endovascular interventions on coronary and peripheral arteries using drug-eluting stents.
Statistics
On average, the department performs more than 450 operations annually, including about 330 open-heart operations. During the existence of the department, more than 6 thousand operations on the heart and blood vessels have been performed. The percentage of postoperative complications corresponds to the data of the world's leading clinics specializing in such operations.
