Department of reconstructive surgery and aortic root

All types of interventions concerning aorta pathology, heart valves, coronary arteries and pericardium pathology are performed in the department. Acute aortic dissections, combined brachiocephalic arteries and aortic arch lesions, malperfusion syndrome (restriction of blood flow in case of aortic dissection) of the brain, coronary arteries, internal organs and limbs; congenital anomalies and connective tissue dysplasias (bicuspid aortic valve, combination of ascending aortic pathology with aortic coarctation, Marfan syndrome, Shereshevsky-Turner syndrome, etc.) are treated in the department.

Surgical treatment of patients with aortic and brachiocephalic arteries dissection using a unique technique. The department has developed a technique for combined simultaneous operations on the brachiocephalic arteries and aortic arch using adaptive perfusion - a temporary aorto-arterial bypass. Together with the center’s laboratories, individual prostheses are manufactured. These prostheses make it possible to perform complex operations that were previously considered impossible or were accompanied by extremely high risks.

More than 10 thousand patients have been treated, about 3200 operations under cardiopulmonary bypass have been performed during the work of the department. In 2022, 370 patients were operated on in the department, 253 interventions were performed using CPB.
